SONGS MY FRIENDS TAUGHT ME
It’s not what we have in our lives but who we have in our lives that matters.
That one friend who knows you down to your bones, the one who drives you mad but you love them anyway, the one who drags you down when they should be lifting you up, the one who got you through the bad times, the one who WAS the bad times!
Jacqui Dark returns to Claire’s Kitchen in a show co-created with Daryl Wallis and Sam Russell, with songs for the weirdos who have your back, who helped you bury the bodies, who lead you astray and back again … who know all about you but love you anyway.
This show is for all of them.
Jacqueline Dark is a multiple Helpmann and Green Room Award winning Australian mezzo-soprano. Her performance experience encompasses opera, music theatre, cabaret and concert performances and includes the roles of Fricka and Second Norn (Der Ring Des Nibelungen), Amneris (Aida) The Composer (Ariadne auf Naxos), Carmen (Carmen), Donna Elvira (Don Giovanni), Katisha (The Mikado), Dorabella (Così Fan Tutte), Santuzza (Cavalleria Rusticana) and Herodias (Salome). Jacqueline sang as a soloist in the gala concert to open Melbourne’s Hamer Hall and created the cabaret duo Strange Bedfellows with Kanen Breen. She has appeared on television on So You Think You Can Dance and as a guest panellist on the popular music quiz show Spicks and Specks. She performed the role of Amnerias in Aida as a part of the Opera on Sydney Harbour series by Opera Australia.
