About the event

3 courses and 2 twenty minutes live set

In 1975, at the now long demolished Pram Factory, Tony Taylor helped create a salute to the Australian variety tradition called ‘The Hills Family Show’.  Its riotous six week season completely sold out in two days. Since then he has been fulfilled mightily by writing or appearing in shows that made people walk out into the night with aching faces and full hearts.

Some of these include ‘The Popular Mechanicals’, ‘You and the Night and the Housewine’, ‘Absurd  Person Singular’, ‘Little Shop of Horrors’ ‘What a Shock’n’Shame’ ‘The Tilbury Pantomimes’, ‘Four Lady Bowlers in a Golden Holden’, ‘Bouncers’,  ‘The 39 Steps’ and ‘Calamity Jane’.

So now is the time to celebrate the insanity of a life in the biz.

He hopes you leave Claire’s Kitchen full of of the mirth and joy he has felt while creating this evening’s celebration.

OUT OF THE ASYLUM For One Night Only

While the world went a bit loony in 2020 Tony Taylor locked himself in a top floor flat in Katoomba. He stared at the Three Sisters, cooked stews, baked pies, painted walls, created a garden and binged on Netflix until his brain melted. Show business faded away seemingly forever. But an invitation from Maestra Bev Kennedy to create an entertainment for Claire’s Kitchen changed all that. Because it made him realise that he had managed to go completely bonkers. And so the show OUT OF THE ASYLUM is a celebration of the insanity of life and performance, maniacally tiptoeing from stories to songs, fond recollection to total fabrication with only one aim .... to give the bastards a roller coaster ride for 60 minutes!

The cabaret room capacity is now only 40 guests to adhere to the Covid 19 personal distancing rules

Anyone entering the premises must provide their name and contact details, including a telephone number or email address.

All reasonable steps are being taken to mitigate against the risk of transmission of infection within the venue (with reference to standard and additional cleaning measures as recommended by public health authorities and SafeWork NSW).
