Synopsis: THE TEST

The Bechdel Test was first used to measure the representation of women in film and other forms of fiction. The rules are as follows:

  1. Two named women must be present in the scene
  2. The women must speak to each other
  3. The discussion must be about something other than men

In their first cabaret experience, Meg and Jasmine will apply the Bechdel test rules to musical theatre, finding songs which focus on female empowerment. Is it a fruitless quest? Find out at Claire’s kitchen!

MEG NEVIN BIO:

Meg is a second-year student in the Sydney Conservatorium of Music in the new Music Theatre course. Originally from New Zealand, Meg moved to Australia to pursue her dream of studying musical theatre. Some of her favorite roles have been Marty in Grease and Jason from Falsettos. Most recently, she was part of the featured ensemble in The Voices, starring Silvie Paladino, Daniel Belle and Robert Mcdougall. She looks forward to continuing her musical education growing as an accomplished performer. She is honored to be entertaining at Claire’s Kitchen 

JASMINE ARGYROPOULOS BIO:

Jasmine Argyropoulos is currently studying Bachelor of Music Theatre at The Conservatorium of Music Sydney. Jasmine has enjoyed dancing and singing from the young age of three. Her Passion for musical theatre began when she was a munchkin in the 2013 production of The Wizard of Oz (Packemin Productions). Since then, Jasmine has performed in many shows some of her favourite roles being Patrice In 13 the musical, Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz, Wendy Jo in Footloose. Jasmine has also loved having the role of dance captain in a variety of shows and has choreographed Newsies Jr, Seussical the Musical and for The Voices staring Silvie Paladino, Daniel Belle and Robert McDougall. Jasmine is Excited to continue her musical theatre education and is thrilled to be performing at Clare’s kitchen
