AGES & STAGES
SOPHIE PERKINS
When Sophie isn’t teaching cycle or pilates, you can usually find her with her nose in a book - or at Dymocks buying more.
Bookstores aside, the only other place where she feels the same sense of wonder and enchantment is on stage.
Reading introduced Sophie to the magic of stories, whilst musicals introduced her to the majesty of combining story and song. This cabaret is a celebration of it all! Whether it’s sung, written or spoken, stories are a girl’s best friend; and she wants to share some of her faves with you. Come for the 3 course meal, stay for the show tunes, and enjoy every anecdote & tangent in between.
VICTORIA LUXTON
A whirlwind trip for the small town girl from Perth, suddenly she finds herself amongst her tribe and making life work in the big city. Rumour has it- this cabaret will feature a sneak peak from Victoria’s very own cabaret: An Appointment with Venus- a telephone consultant at a match making service agency!!! Scandal, salacious rumours and chaos ensue. Prepare to hear songs from the greats with a few little twists along the way.
SOPHIE'S BIO:
A graduate of the Queensland Conservatorium’s Musical Theatre program in 2015, Sophie's dreamt of pursuing a career in musical theatre for as long as she can remember. Shortly after graduating, Sophie had the pleasure of playing the title role in the Queensland premiere of CARRIE: The Musical (Wax Lyrical Productions) at the Brisbane Powerhouse before making the move to Sydney. Whilst here, she has had the pleasure of performing in Bare The Musical (Supply Evolution), The Wild Party (Little Triangle), Mad World (David Butler Studios), and Nine (Little Triangle). Last year, Sophie was afforded the opportunity to Assistant Direct The Mystery of Edwin Drood (Little Triangle) alongside Alexander Andrews, in addition to being part of the ensemble. Sophie’s curiosity with writing and the world of cabaret is still a newer venture, but something she’s loving every second of exploring. Getting to play a small part in the Sydney Fringe sensation ‘Lola’s Piano Bar’ has definitely been a highlight this year, right up alongside the opportunity to perform at Claire’s for you tonight.
VICTORIA'S BIO: Victoria Luxton has been performing in independent musical theatre productions since moving to Sydney in 2017. Victoria is originally from Perth where she studied the cert musical theatre course at WAAPA and then moved to Brisbane to study at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music. Victoria has featured in shows such as Sunday in the Park with George, Merrily We Roll Along, Nine, The Wild Party, The Mystery of Edwin Drood and playing the titular role in Thoroughly Modern Millie. Victoria is the creative producer and host of La La Lounge, a monthly musical theatre cabaret night and is thrilled to be stepping back into the spotlight in this show at Claire’s.
