No One is Alone

It’s 2024, and we are still vaguely feeling the implications brought to us from the dreaded 2021 lockdowns. The performing arts was in blackout, the HSC was never ending, and events and gatherings were heavily restricted. We had no idea what the future had in store, and are only beginning to get back on our feet properly 3 years later! Join Xia Lian and Isabelle as they share their personal experiences, accompanied an enchanting musical theatre soundtrack to remind everyone: No one is alone.

Xia Lian:

Xia Lian loves all things music and performance and is currently at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music studying a Bachelor of Musical Theatre. Her most notable Musical Theatre experience includes Mrs Andersson in 'A Little Night Music' (Hayes, 2023), Backing Vocalist in 'Everything is Sh*t' (Garden Party Creatives, 2024), Featured Ensemble in 'The Theory of Relativity' (Sydney Con, 2023), 'The Voices' Concert (Neil Gooding Productions, 2023), Mabel in 'Pirates of Penzance' (Syd Con, 2023), Jennie Parsons in ‘Down in the Valley’ (Syd Con, 2022), Johanna Barker in 'Sweeney Todd' (Arcadians, 2021), alongside ‘Wicked’ (AMTC, 2019), ‘Les Miserables’ (AMTC, 2018), and ‘Pagliacci’ (Opera Carnivale, 2017). Xia Lian was Stage Manager for ‘Falsettos’ (MUSE, 2023) and ‘My Fair Lady’ (TIGS, 2021) and has obtained her Cert III in Live Performance and Entertainment Services. She has also appeared in the Opera Australia’s Regional Tour Children’s Chorus 2014-2018. Xia Lian was very grateful to be a recipient of the John Bell Scholarship in 2021. She is currently a member of Sydney Philharmonia Choir’s VOX choir, where she most recently appeared opening ABC Classic's 'Feel Good' voting, Schoenberg's 'Gurrelieder', and 'The Golden Age of Broadway’ at the Sydney Opera House. She was a part of Tim Minchin’s ‘Play it Safe’ Music Video to celebrate the 50 years of the SOH, both on-screen and as a backing vocalist in 2023. Xia Lian has also appeared on TripleJ with recording artist AllDay in June 2024. Xia Lian has worked with Adventure Kids Entertainment as a lead performer and educator, teaching children the basics about recycling and sustainability through interactive song, dance and activities! She has also recently curated a series of Broadway cabarets to perform in Aged Care homes around Sydney which has been very well received by all. Xia Lian is looking forward to the Sydney Con's production of Into the Woods in August, where she will be playing the role of Cinderella.
