Enjoy the unique pleasure of hearing him play few of his own originals too.

His larger-than-life presence, irreverent humour and distinctive growl bring a unique passion and texture to these great songs.

Beneath the roaring bluster and cyclonic musicality, the sinewy strands of romance weave poignant and compelling stories of life, love, lust and loss – this performer’s favourite themes.

Be prepared to ‘laugh and cry and cry and laugh about it all again’.

‘… a style to surprise, satisfy and delight’ - Fringe Review★★★★★

‘Above all, very, very fun’ - Broadway Baby ★★★★

Stewart says ‘It gives me great pleasure to perform back here at my favourite (and conveniently local) theatre restaurant, Claire’s Kitchen’.

Stewart D’Arrietta- BIO

D'Arrietta is well known as ‘the piano guy’ in Lennon Through A Glass Onion. He and John Waters co-created the show in 1992, and it remains one of Australia’s best loved musical theatre productions, having performed both all over Australia and worldwide.

Stewart has also been musical director of a number of other major productions, including The White Album Concert and Beatles Back To Back.

His show, My Leonard Cohen  was a smash hit at the Edinburgh Fringe Festivals, and the Adelaide Fringe Festival, as well as selling out at the Sydney Opera House. In 2023, the show played Czech Republic, Germany, Switzerland, Ireland, Northern Ireland and London, and will return to Europe in 2024.

D’Arrietta’s voice has a signature graveliness, bursting with emotion. His homage to the music of Tom Waits, Belly of A Drunken Piano got rave reviews from The New York Times, Variety and Village Voice. The show was a hit at The Adelaide Fringe Festival and the Edinburgh Fringe Festivals where it got all 5 star reviews.

He is presently performing with John Waters In Radio Luxembourg, a concert of the smash hits of the 60s.

D’Arrietta’s other musical director/performer/composer credits include Cafe Brel, Reunion and Satango.

Satango, (the devil’s tango), played a season in Las Vegas in 2019. He is presently creating another musical, The Ghost of Leicester Car Park, which will open at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024.

Stewart has also composed and conducted soundtracks for features, short form drama and documentaries including Easter In Jerusalem for the ABC’s Compass, Sugar Inc, Blood Oath, Colour in The Creek, Emmy Award winning Faces In the Mob and award winning Moeder.

He received the Drover’s Award from 'Arts On Tour' for his production of The Blonde, The Brunette and The Vengeful Redhead, starring Academy Award nominee, Jacki Weaver.

D’Arrietta writes and performs his own music. His original CD, My Magnificent Narcotic is available on limited release.
