"WAIT-WHAT??…was the standard response when friends and family heard that Scott was in ‘Grease’… Most people thought he was in Greece.
As this year marks 30 years since Scott’s first professional musical, he has taken a moment to reflect on how the hell any of this happened. Surely, he should’ve stayed in his marketing job… Scott will explore the music and stories that led to the most unexpected career
as an actor/singer/*cough dancer.
Accompanying him is New York based Aussie guitarist Ben Butler, who most recently toured the world with Sting. Yep. Ben is probably wondering how this happened too…
Scott’s 30year career has established him as one of Australia’s leading men. His credits include Hairspray (Helpmann Award Nomination), Beauty and the Beast (Mo Award Nomination), 10th Anniversary Tour of Les Miserables, Camelot, Carousel, Mack & Mabel and Kiss Me Kate. Other professional credits include Grease, The New Rocky Horror Show, The Full Monty, Company, High School Musical, They’re Playing Our Song, Cho Cho, High Society, Annie Get Your Gun, The Sign of the Seahorse, Secret Bridesmaids’ Business, Every Single Saturday, Truth Beauty & a Picture of You and West Side Story.
Scott has performed in countless concerts and corporate events, both as a soloist and a member of one of Australia’s most in demand acts, “The Leading Men”
Ben Butler is an Australian-born New York City-based session guitarist, sideman and composer. He has toured the world with Sting, George Michael, Chris Botti, Suzanne Vega, Paula Cole, Dar Williams, Jonatha Brooke, Shaggy and the East Villiage Opera Company.
Ben has also played TV performances and special events backing artists such as Bruce Springsteen, Stevie Wonder, Annie Lennox, Rod Stewart, Jos Stone, Desmond Child, Sherryl Crow, Burt Bacharach, Herbie Hancock, Lyle Lovett, Dionne Warwick, Joan Osborne, Patti Austin, Josh Groban, Andrea Bocelli, Bono and The Edge, Miley Cyrus, Jessie J, Joss Stone, Ben Platt, Rita Wilson and many more.
As a composer his work can be heard on films such as The Heights, The Insurgents, and TV shows on the Discovery network. His guitar playing can also be heard on films such as The Greatest Showman, Our Souls at Night, Zoolander 2, Zodiac, 29 Palms as well as many pop and singer-songwriter albums and cast recordings.
On Broadway he has been a member of the orchestra for Spider-Man (music by Bono and The Edge), The Last Ship (music by Sting) and was playing on Tina Fey’s Mean Girls when Covid19 closed Broadway.
